Went out last night with my wife and friends to see Sin City. Great movie, not the huge “revolution” in film that it was made out to be, but quite worth the time to go see it. Went to see it at the Loews theater down in White Marsh and the first thing I have to say is $9 to see a movie now?? That is just ridiculous, last time I went to a movie in theater (it’s been a while) I only paid like $7.50. I’m just looking forward to when all theaters are digital and movies are transfered to them over the internet. What is going to be their excuse then for raising prices? But that isn’t even the worst part of the evening.

So you just charged me $9 for the privilege of sitting in your theater, drink your overpriced liquid and you are then going to proceed to force feed over 10 minutes of commercials on me before the movie starts. No, I’m not talking about the slides they show while people are coming in and trying to find seats. We are talking about full on TV style commercials for everything under the sun! I’m sorry, when I purchased the ticket I said I wanted to see a movie, not a bunch of silly commercials for products I will never buy. It put a bad taste in my mouth before the movie ever started, which might explain part of my lackluster desire for the film. I really should have just demanded my money back and stormed out.

But hey, isn’t capitalism great?
