Stoudt’s American Style Pale Ale

Picked up some brew tonight so I can deal with this Comcast oddness without losing my temper (planning on calling soon). New beer at my local place in the microbrew section from a brewery in Adamstown, PA. Company is known as Stoudt’s Brewing. Over all not bad, not very heavy in the flavor department, fairly subdued and light. Fairly refreshing, might make a good summer beer. Very little aftertaste with this one either. Overall I’d most likely purchase it again. You like a nice Ale, give Stoudt’s American Style Pale Ale a try. Just my quick 2 cents.

Comcast Issues Part 3

So here we are, still with massive failure on my upload ability with my Comcast connection. Have a forum post going at Broadbandreports, still no responses as of yet. Something tells me Comcast is just going to keep ignoring this problem until it goes away. Which I’m not going to let them that is for sure. I’m going to become a thorn in their side until the day I get something resolved with these monkeys. My most recent events revolve around using a set of VPNs that I have access to to funnel the data to me. Basically I’m taking a known good web connection and forcing it to feed me and see what happens. Interesting part is, two of them are OK on the upload side, but the other two fail miserably. Here’s what I ended up with: (trace routes are included to those locations)

Now for the sake of comparison (I might take screen caps of these later if I feel up to dealing with it… I’m just getting tired of this crap and Comcast insisting I have an issue with my stuff) here are the connections ala carte.

  • Bel Air MD (Comcast). 4952K Down 351K Up
  • Columbia MD (Comcast). 2677K Down 707K Up
  • North East MD (AT&T T1). 1224K Down 1372K Up
  • Baltimore MD (CavTel). 2240K Down 614K Up

I’m really getting to the point where I’m about to say screw Comcast and call Speakeasy. I’m pretty sure I will qualify for the 6Mb plan, so I can live with losing the extra 2Mb down, even if I am paying more, just for the much lauded Speakeasy service. Granted not sure how I’m going to work an extra $50 a month for internet into my budget, but if this keeps up much longer we’ll have to figure somethng out, I simply can not deal with my connection only being half functioning.

Probably in the meantime I need to look and see if there is some easy way of getting to a Comcast engineer. Worthless script monkey CSRs are not going to be able to help me with this issue, as there is something really “odd” going on with my connection. I’ve got mounds of information at this point and hopefully someone with access to the Comcast network can take it and look at what is going on once it enters their network and figure out WTF is going on. At this point I’ve just been leaving my laptop hooked up to the VPN at my Dad’s house so I have some upload or using the Verizon air card I have. Sad part is, both work better at this point for doing anything (besides straight download) than my straight Comcast connection. Here at home my Verizon card is getting 222K Down and 115K Up. Absolutely pathetic when your wireless card is faster than your cable connection.

Bah, I’m going to eat dinner then probably go bash someone on Comcast over the head.
