Brooklyn Brewery - Pennant Ale ‘55

Picked up another new Ale at the beer store this evening from the Brooklyn Brewery in Utica, NY. The Ale is a tribute to the 1955 World Champion Baseball team, and I would say that the team should be proud of the tribute. It is slightly disappointing compared to my last beer of the day that I talked about, but I wasn’t really expecting as much from this. It’s a good smooth Ale, with little aftertaste (there is a bit of one there). Unfortunately it is also very uninspiring, leaving me little desire to write too much about it for fear of wasting my breathe. Overall, if someone were to offer me a bottle of it I wouldn’t turn in down, but I seriously doubt I would ever purchase another six pack of this particular brand again.

Chipotle Redux

After a 6 month hiatus from eating at Chipotle Mexican Grill after my first three miserable failures of visits I’ve decided to head back today to grab a burrito. What can I say, I’m a sucker for a nice burrito, and being as how Chipotle is the only place close to where I was I decided to give them another chance to qualify on places I will frequent. I have to say they have improved since my original quest to make this a new eatery of choice (I really wanted to like there food), but still fall far short of the mark and their boasting. Their website calls themselves “Gourmet” and I hate to inform them, but they are for from. Granted this time makes them slightly above Taco Bell on the quality scale, but as far as value, they definately are at the bottom. Baja Fresh still ranks in a solid second in the mexican joint rankings, while the local Frisco Burrito is still the champion (and will probably never be uncrowned). Now if you will excuse me, I have half a mediocre burrito to finish.
