Another Reason To Use Postfix

A new vulnerability was discovered in Version 8 of Sendmail yesterday. See the Advisory over at ISS. This has got to be the best part though:

In order to exploit this vulnerability, an attacker simply needs to be
able to connect to sendmail SMTP server. This is a multi-shot exploit,
meaning the attacker can attempt to exploit it an indefinite amount
of times, since sendmail spawns a new process for each connected
client.

That my friends, is just awesome. So think every Sendmail box there is, what’s the point of a mail server if you can’t communicate via port 25?

iTunes x64 Music Burning Fix

I had some spare time this evening and went in search of a fix for the fact that iTunes will not burn music in the x64 version of Windows. Seems there is some incompatibility with the “gear drivers”, but it seems there is a driver for this particular item out there available to download. I found it over in this forum post, downloaded and installed it. Bam, iTunes can see my DVD/RW for the first time since the upgrade! Now I can make discs to jam to in the car again.

Media Player Classic 6.4.8.9 Released

Personally, I still prefer VLC for some situations. But Media Player Classic is stil a nice program, I still give it an A.

When It Goes Boom

So I was driving home last night, turn onto my street and BOOM! Something in my transmissions goes *poof* and I drift very slowly to a parking spot in the street. Current initial diagnostic, clutch and possibly the gear box. No official price yet, but it’s not looking good. Lucky me I’m off to Oil City, PA in the morning, so I have two whole days to not think about this issue. I’ll update when I get home regarding this pain in the ass situation.
